The purpose of this program is to educate young women who are pregnant on how to properly care for themselves and their newborn children. Medical professionals, child-care providers, and educators make presentations during the shower. Topics addressed include: prenatal and postnatal care, making the transition to motherhood, coping with stress, immunizations for the newborn, proper diet for the newborn and the mother, stages of development of the newborn, recognizing when a child needs immediate medical attention, childcare, birth control, financial assistance, educational and job opportunities, etc. For their participation in this event, each attendee will be showered with gifts for their newborn on behalf of Ten Pearls Inc. and Theta Rho Sigma Chapter.
Operation Big Book Bag
Based out of the South Bronx, we are faced every day with poverty and because of this, many students who don’t have basic school supplies. Each year we provides much needed school supplies and other academic resources to students in the Bronx.
This year Theta Rho Sigma, Bronx Alumnae Chapter adopted a 2nd grade class within the Bronx Community. Please help us by donating school items or donating monetary funds to ensure we provide every student in the classroom with what they need to succeed in school. The items needed are:
- 48 packs of yellow #2 pencils
- 48 pack of Playdoh
- 72 black marble composition notebooks
- 48 packs of loose leaf wide-ruled paper
- 48 box crayons (16 colors)
- 48 Smocks to be used while painting
- 48 pack Index Cards (unruled 3″ X 5″)
Financial Empowerment Series
This primary goal of this program is to teach young adults financial literacy. Participants understand the role money plays in acquiring personal goals. This program is designed to develop awareness and understand the importance of wise financial decisions. Through activities participants experience the real life skills of basic investing, saving, and credit preservation.
